Samsung Wave devices and the Bada operating system

The new Samsung Wave handsets (such as the S8500) do have the new Samsung OS (operating system) called Bada. This OS is really new and though still has some bugs.

Update 23.11.2010:
These bug have been fixed with the new firmware S8500XXJI4/S8500DBTJH3.
So, update your Firmware with the Samsung Kies software.

Here is a list of the bugs we have found:

(with Firmware S8500XXJH3/S8500DBTJH3)

  1. Single appointments are converted to recurring appointments:
You store new appointments with Mobile Master (or the Samsung Kies) at the phone or new appointments are created during a synchronization, the new appointments are displayed correctly at the phone.
However, when you turn off and on again the phone some of the new appointments are suddenly recurring.
Solution: edit the appointments at the phone and remove the recurrence info.

  2. The subject of task is limited to 15 characters:
When sending tasks to the phone nomore than 15 characters for the subject are accepted, although at the phone you can enter up to 100 characters and reading with Mobile Master works fine.
Solution: edit the task at the phone and add the missing characters

  3. Appointment created during summertime (DLST), then modified in normal time (at the phone and without modifying date and time):
The appointment is shifted be the offset of the summer time (DLST)
Solution: edit the appointment at the phone againm and change the time

  4. Sending phone numbers such as *31#+49123458 does not work:
At the phone you can enter a number such as *31#+49123458 is possible, but writing such a number with Mobile Master does not work. When sending a number to the phone, it does only accept a + in a number when it is the 1st character.

We have reported these bugs to Samsung and hope they will be fixed soon with a new firmware.
